Involvement in West Gloucestershire PCT

In addition to the involvement opportunities described earlier in this pack, there are many other ways in which you or your family can 'get involved ' to help improve local health services in West Gloucestershire.

These include:

  • Joining a patient, user, or carer group at your local hospital or GP practice or wherever you receive a service
  • Taking part in patient surveys
  • Joining the new Patient Forum due to be set up soon
  • Becoming a volunteer in a local hospital or clinic, or join a League of Friends
  • Finding out more about the Expert Patient Programme - EPP (information in this booklet)
  • requesting information about the PCT Reference Group to monitor patient and public involvement in the local NHS.

' Patch Teams '

West Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust also employs six Primary Care Development Managers (PCDMs) whose role is to work with Family Doctors, health care staff, patients and the public to improve services for local people.

Each PCDM covers a specific area of West Gloucestershire and will be establishing a 'patch team ' to identify health priorities and to develop services.

If you would like to find out more about the PCDMs and would like to join a ‘patch team’, please click the following link: 'Patch teams'

Service Groups

We would also like to involve members of the public, patients and partners who have a specific interest in a particular service area and would like to join the PCT in discussing and planning these areas of health need.

They include:

  • Services for people with Cancer
  • Services for people with Coronary Heart Disease
