PCT sets up further MMR vaccination Clinics

West Gloucestershire PCT is taking the pro-active step of offering young people aged between 16-25 a further opportunity to receive MMR vaccination if they are not or are unsure that they are fully vaccinated.

Nurse led clinics, run by the PCT, are being established in Gloucester and the Forest of Dean as follows:

To have the free MMR vaccination, members of the public (between the ages of 16 and 25) are asked to phone 01452 389440 to book an appointment. (Please note it will only be possible to receive a vaccination if an appointment is made). Outside of office hours and during busy periods this telephone number will be an answer phone.

Director of Public Health, Dr Hugh Annett said:

“By taking this action we are aiming to increase levels of immunity within our local communities. MMR is the best way to protect against mumps, especially when we know it is circulating in schools and in the community. The PCT has taken the decision to establish the clinics to help keep young people safe.”
