Lydney and District Hospital Theatre Maintenance
15/11/2005
Lydney and District Hospital's operating theatre will temporarily close for approximately 4-5 weeks from this Wednesday to allow essential maintenance to be carried out.
West Gloucestershire PCT is reassuring patients that steps are being taken to ensure that disruption to services is minimised with patients receiving their operations at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or alternative local sites during this period.
Director of Service Delivery, John Ford said:
"We are carrying out essential maintenance work to improve the air flow system in the theatre and so it is necessary to close the theatre for a short while."
"Although we have not experienced any difficulties with the current system, we want to make sure that all our facilities are entirely safe for patients. Following testing, we had an opportunity to carry out the work from this week so we took the decision to get it done as soon as possible."
"We are asking people to be patient so that we can carry out this maintenance work for the benefit of all."
The temporary arrangements that have been put in place relate only to surgical procedures and a small number of patients. No other services at Lydney and District Hospital (including the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit, outpatients and non-surgical inpatients) are affected by the maintenance work.
