Hospitals Score Highly in Quality Assessment
19/12/2005
Staff at both Dilke Memorial Hospital and Lydney and District Hospital are celebrating after achieving high marks in a recent ‘patient environment assessment*’.
The National Patient Safety Agency review involved a self assessment at both hospitals, which included patient representatives, followed by a formal validation. It looked at the key areas of patient environment and quality of hospital food.
Both Lydney and District Hospital and Dilke Memorial Hospital received an ‘excellent’ rating for quality of the patient environment. Dilke Memorial Hospital achieved an ‘excellent’ rating for food with Lydney and District Hospital also performing highly with a ‘good’ evaluation.
West Gloucestershire PCT’s Director of Clinical Development, Jan Marriott welcomed the announcement and paid tribute to local NHS staff:
“It was no surprise to me, senior management or staff who work in these hospitals that both Dilke and Lydney scored so highly. Our staff have a great track record in providing the highest standards of patient care in a friendly and supportive environment. Although this is great boost to everyone concerned, we will be looking in detail at the assessment findings to identify where we can make even more improvements for the future”.
