New PCT Chief Executive Announced
20/09/2006
The Chair of the new Gloucestershire PCT, Ruth FitzJohn
today announced the appointment of Jan Stubbings as the organisation’s
first Chief Executive.
Jan will bring extensive NHS senior management experience to Gloucestershire and has also held senior appointments within local authorities and in independent consultancy.
Jan is dedicated to partnership working at all levels and currently holds the joint position of Chief Executive of Swindon Primary Care Trust and Group Director for Housing and Social Care at Swindon Borough Council.
The new Gloucestershire PCT will be formed on 1st October 2006 and will replace the three existing Primary Care Trusts in Gloucestershire (Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, Cotswold and Vale and West Gloucestershire).
Gloucestershire PCT will play an increasing role in supporting frontline NHS healthcare workers – such as GPs and Nursing staff – to have more direct involvement in purchasing the services they feel their patient needs.
The PCT will work with staff, local partners and the public to improve the health of local communities and also provide community based services that meet the needs of local patients. The new organisation will strive to achieve greater financial stability for the longer term.
Chair of Gloucestershire PCT, Ruth FitzJohn said:
“Jan is enormously capable and holds strong values with the focus on excellence in patient care. I am sure she will bring fresh, new ideas and lead our continued efforts to build high quality sustainable services for our local communities whilst helping us to achieve a sound financial footing for the future.”
“As well as announcing Jan’s appointment, I would like to pay tribute to our current Chief Executives, Caroline Fowles, Richard James and Stephen Golledge who have contributed so much to the Health Community over the years.”
“Their tremendous hard work and commitment to patient care has been crucial to the great strides we have made in improving and increasing access to health services for our local population and developing effective partnerships, particularly with Social Care. I am very confident that they will enjoy continued success in the years to come.”
Chief Executive of Gloucestershire PCT, Jan Stubbings said:
“I am extremely pleased to have been given this wonderful opportunity to lead the new Gloucestershire PCT in the first phase of its life.”
“NHS staff are doing such a fantastic job in Gloucestershire and I will want to provide them with the support to deliver the very best services possible for local residents.”
“Our new Primary Care Trust can help us to be
healthier, keep more of us out of hospital and deliver a range of health
services closer to home. To achieve this we will need to further develop
effective partnerships within our communities and put good financial management
at the top of the agenda.”
