Heart Monitor Boost for the Dilke
23/01/2006
Dilke Memorial Hospital has some new medical kit thanks to the generosity of the British Heart Foundation and a ‘kind hearted’ local donor.
The cardiac monitor and vital signs monitor have now been delivered and will support medical staff to assess local patients and ensure they receive the most appropriate care and treatment to meet their needs.
The potentially life saving equipment cost £5,200, with funding from the British Heart Foundation (£3,200) and the remaining £2,000 coming from the local donor who did not wish to be identified.
Minor Injuries and Illness Unit (MIIU) Sister, Wendy Liddington who submitted the original application for funding to the BHF said:
“This equipment is of great benefit to the nursing team at the Dilke and is already helping us to enhance the care that local patients receive. We are particularly grateful to the support of the British Heart Foundation and also to the generosity of the local donor who has helped to make a real difference.”
Kathee Coonerty, Community Fundraising and Volunteer Manager for the British Heart Foundation in Gloucestershire, who will be visiting the Dilke on Wednesday 25 th January said:
“We are pleased to hear that the heart monitor is now in place and that local patients are starting to benefit from the new equipment. The British Heart Foundation is always delighted when it can provide this sort of support to community hospital nursing staff who in turn provide such a valuable service.”
