West Gloucestershire PCT can confirm that the 1,000 NHS dental places at Eastgate Street Dental Centre in Gloucester have now been filled.
Dental Project Manager, Liz Griffiths said:
“The 4 surgery centre was opened in June 2005 and following two previous registration opportunities, 10,000 patients now have access to NHS dentistry at the centre. We were keen to promote the availability of the remaining 1,000 places that until this week had not been taken.”
“During the last year we have provided an additional 28,000 NHS dental registrations for residents of West Gloucestershire through the opening of two new dental practices in Cinderford and Gloucester and by reaching agreement with local dentists in Gloucester and the Forest of Dean to offer additional NHS services.”
“Although these developments mean that we have increased the availability of NHS dentistry in West Gloucestershire, we are not complacent as we know that there is still much work to be done to improve access.”
“We would like to reassure patients that we will continue to do everything possible to increase access to NHS Dentistry and we hope to be in a position to confirm further NHS dental places in Gloucester soon.”
“As additional NHS places are confirmed we will promote their availability widely.”
Information concerning the availability of NHS dental places will continue to be made available via the Internet at: www.nhs.uk/england/dentists and www.westglospct.org.uk, through the Dental Helpline on 01452 318858, NHS Direct on 0845 4647 and through the local media.
