Patch Profile
The population profile is very similar to that of the PCT as a whole.
- The North Gloucester Patch has one of the smallest populations of women aged 15 to 44 (3,917 in total). Unsurprisingly the North Gloucester patch has the second lowest fertility rate (50.5) out of all 8 areas. The fertility rate is the number of births per 1,000 women aged between 15 to 44 years
- The Patch has the lowest index of multiple deprivation in the PCT (including income, employment, health, education, housing, child poverty and access). However there is evidence to suggest that there are small pockets of deprivation in some areas disguised by the larger more affluent areas of North Gloucester
- In the 2001 census, 8.3% of the North Gloucester population felt their health was not good. This is the fourth lowest figure out of the eight patches within the PCT
- 17.6% declared on their Census forms that they were living with a long term illness. This figure is above the County figure (16.1%) and below the England and Wales figure (18.2%)
- The patch has one of the lowest estimated diabetes rates in the over 16 age group
- The patch has one of the lowest percentages of (2.6%) of unemployed people across the PCT area, second only to East Gloucester
- The patch was ranked fourth (where 1 is the highest) out of eight patches for crime rates for the year 2000.
